About the Scag Dealer Dot Com Program

In 1999 Scag Power Equipment chartered DreamFire Studios, a web design and marketing company, to build a turnkey Internet Presence solution for their authorized dealer network. As a company consistently on the forefront of technology and always pushing to provide their dealers with the best tools for success, Scag recognized the value and power of each dealer having the ability to promote their own store through the World Wide Web.

There were several challenges at the time of this groundbreaking endeavor. First and foremost, it was imperative that each dealer be given the opportunity to independently promote their own business. A cookie-cutter solution where each dealer was given the same generic site, or worse, a carbon-copy of the parent company site with just a name change, was out of the question. Each Scag dealer was to be given the ability to write and change their own web site as they see fit, with the freedom to promote all aspects of their business, and be able to do it all without hiring a webmaster, or having to learn HTML programming and graphic design. It had to be easy enough for anyone to do.

Secondly, knowing that the prospect of securing an Internet Presence for the owner of a small to medium sized business is often complicated, expensive, time-consuming, and still difficult to do the right way, many times yielding less than professional results, Scag Power Equipment mandated that the dealer sites had to not only be edited easily, but affordable with a sharp, professional look.

WIth those challenges addressed, the Scag Dealer Dot Com program was born and the new turnkey solution was welcomed with much appreciation and great results from dealers that used the program. The next few years brought tons of valuable feedback from participating dealers and many requests for different additions and options.

We listened.

Taking all the dealer feedback, we began to rework the system in preparation for the Second Generation Dot Com program adding what dealers said they wanted most: more control, more freedom to add different sections to their web site, editable "What's new" and "Financing" pages, generic pages to use at will, and more.

We rebuilt the original Site Editor to add true point-and-click formatting, and armed with an exciting new technology called CSS Positioning we began to build a new array of top-notch professional web site designs that were completely removed from the actual content on the dealer's web pages. That meant that we could not only produce better looking and better performing web sites than ever before, but we could now allow dealers to actually switch designs, without them having to rebuild their entire site. That allows us to do even more designs, on an ongoing basis.

Combine all that with a fleet of new, top of the line web servers allowing us to offer things like Spam Protection, built in WebMail and in depth web traffic statistics... and you've got the new Scag Dealer Dot Com Gen II Program.

Still, we're not done. No doubt in a few years there will be even more exciting new technology and more breakthroughs in web design and development, allowing us to give you an even better product than we ever thought possible ... again. When that day comes, we'll once again look back on the feedback that you, our dedicated Internet powered Dealers provide to us about the Gen II program, and use it to build an even better program.
